His heart pounded when he realised what he was feeling for the man who’d caused him immeasurable pain. The scars still stung, and his ears still rang with the probing questions and the unbridled degradation.
And yet, that man was all he had left. His comrades were gone. Because of him.
Was it normal to attach yourself to the nearest human being? He saw him most days. He was the only one who talked to him.
Harsh words. Talking nonetheless.
He would never feel the same. They’d both been doing their jobs. Interrogator versus insurgent.
